All applicants must:
- Complete the online Graduate School Application.
- We strongly recommend you to contact with potential advisor(s) to discuss your research program and include the discussion in your application.
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is recommended but not required for admission to the program. Scores from the general GRE test are given different weights by various faculty advisors, so applicants are encouraged to directly contact their desired faculty advisor to determine the importance of this indicator
Applicants whose native language is not English must:
Submit official TOEFL scores directly from ETS to the University of Tennessee (code 1843)
Submit official IELTS scores directly from the IELTS administrator to the Office of Graduate Admissions
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS SHOULD BE SENT DIRECTLY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OR UNIVERSITIES GRANTING YOUR DEGREE(S) TO GRADUATE ADMISSIONS. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS OR OTHER MATERIAL BY POSTAL MAIL UNLESS REQUESTED TO DO SO. THIS WILL DELAY PROCESSING YOUR APPLICATION.
