BESS – Extension Overview

The goal of Biosystems Engineering & Soil Science Extension faculty programs is to meet the needs of Tennesseans and the nation by conducting valuable education, technology transfer, and applied research activities to promote sustainable and profitable agricultural production and natural resource protection systems. BESS Extension provides this support through University of Tennessee Extension by addressing issues related to water quality, waste management, energy and resource utilization, safety, and production agriculture. Agriculture and natural resources are a vital part of life in Tennessee, and the people to make decisions about these systems need the best available science-based information. We strive to make that information available to improve the quality of life for Tennesseans and our national and international partners. Our work focuses on the areas depicted below.
