The Armistead Award is awarded to the student with the highest-grade point average after five semesters at the University of Tennessee. The recipient of the Armistead Award must be a graduate of a Tennessee high school. This year we had a tie, and the awards go to Claire Pouncey a Plant Sciences major, and William Vaughan who is majoring in Construction Science & Agricultural Systems.
2023 Graduate Student Global Leader Award – Ryan Ackett is a PhD student in Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science. His advisor is Dr. Deb Saha. Ryan is recognized for international research with an emphasis on soil science and climate change. He is working on a BARD US-Israel Agricultural Research and Development Fund and has received a Global Catalyst Award from the Center for Global Engagement where he was able to travel to Israel to “strengthen the bonds between the partner universities and demonstrated the importance of international collaboration to meet international challenges.
