Construction Science and Management students participate in Associated Builders and Contractors Workforce Competition in Orlando

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Construction Science and Management Program was excited to compete in the 2024 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Construction Management Competition (CMC). The ABC CMC is a nationwide competition that brings the best students in Construction Science together from across the nation to compete in producing a bid response on a unique project. This year’s competition focused on the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Center renovation and included construction challenges like planning to build the tallest diving tower in the Western Hemisphere. The students spent many hours before the competition preparing a bid proposal that included a full estimate of costs, a project management plan, a quality control plan, and safety plan. While at the competition, the students were locked away and had to incorporate a set of change orders into their final plan including adjustments to schedules and pricing. Top teams then presented their bid proposal to a panel of judges. While we did not win the competition this year, we are immensely proud of the hard work, dedication, and passion that the UT team devoted to this competition. They have set a foundation for excellence that will ensure continued participation in future years. Gratitude is expressed to the ABC Greater Tennessee Chapter for their wonderful support, both monetarily and otherwise, as well as the Herbert College of Agriculture for their monetary contribution.  Without ABC Greater Tennessee and the Herbert College of Agriculture contributions, our team would have been unable to participate in this competition.
