ADMISSION STATUS

Applicants that meet all admission requirements are admitted under a normal degree program.

The Graduate School requires that applicants with a baccalaureate degree from a United State institution who have a GPA below 2.7/4.0 can only be admitted under a provisional status. Other applicants may also be admitted under provisional status based on Admissions Committee findings, including applicants whose baccalaureate degrees are in areas different from their desired graduate programs. International applicants on a non-immigrant visa also normally cannot be admitted if their baccalaureate GPA is less than 3.0/4.0, though at the discretion of the Admissions Committee and prospective major professor this may be overridden, and the student admitted under provisional status.

The provisional status will be removed after completion of nine or more hours of graduate credit with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Failure to maintain a 3.0 while in this status will result in dismissal.
