McKensie Nelms won the 2023 Gamma Sigma Delta MS Student Award. McKensie will defend this spring her MS thesis “ Tomato Flower Detection and Three-Dimensional Mapping for Precision Pollination” under the direction of Dr. Hao Gan with committee members Drs. Lori Duncan and Annette Wszelaki. McKensie graduated with an undergraduate degree in Biosystems Engineering in 2020. That year, her senior design project, “Poultry Farm Security Gate: Autonomous Vehicle Recognition System”, done with teammate Mary Morris placed third in the national AGCO ASABE competition. In fall 2023, McKensie will start a PhD in Dr. Gan’s laboratory where she will continue the robotic pollination work by expanding from flower detection to flower localization and pollination operations. Congratulations McKensie!
