A Blue Ribbon Award for Educational Aides in the Websites category was awarded by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) to the team for the Tennessee Smart Yards website. This website was published in October 2020, well into the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Tennesseans were exposed to a wide range of local pandemic restrictions on gathering and while placing a greater emphasis on a satisfying home landscape. The website, developed through technical assistance from UTIA Information Technology Services, is a one-stop shop for any resident to learn from Extension experts, adopt science-based conservation practices, and certify their Tennessee Smart Yard. Since the website launch, there have been 338 yard certifications across 44 Tennessee counties.
