Herbert’s Construction Science Management program started a Women in Construction (WIC) Student Club, which is working in conjunction with the Construction Science Student Club. WIC is in the process of becoming a registered student organization with UT’s Center for Student Engagement. WIC is co-advised by Sonja Burk, Advising Coordinator, and Angela Smith, CSM Senior Lecturer, both of whom are in the Herbert College of Agriculture. In January 2024, WIC already had its first event. Twenty participants attended a talk from a representative of Performance Contracting Inc, a company based in Baton Rouge, LA. After the talk, the group was treated to a sponsored Chick-fil-A dinner.
