Andrew Sherfy won the 2022 NACTA Educator Award.  Recognized for his demonstrated ability and success at teaching large enrollment classes, Andrew firmly believes that preparation and organization are two important tenets of successful instruction.  Andrew also believes that course size should not be a limiting factor for teaching mode and student experiences in the classroom.  Supported with a crew of graduate students, scantron/multiple choice style assessments are withheld in favor of open-ended reflection questions, student-driven research and field trips around campus. In addition, Andrew is the leader of our UT “SoilVols” soil judging team, which has had members participate in the Southeastern Regional Soils Contest, National Collegiate Soil Contests and even International Soil Judging Contest. Congratulations to Andrew!
